The seventh production batch of 200 aircraft ordered from A.V. Roe & Co Ltd under Contract # 2019 and part of Works Order # 8589. 156 of these aircraft were B III’s and the remaining 44 were B I’s.
A.V. Roe produced the major components at Chadderton, with assembly and flight testing being undertaken at Avro Woodford. The Avro factory at Yeadon, Yorkshire, both built and flew the aircraft at that site.
Deliveries commenced Oct 1944 and completed Mar 1945.
B I’s (44) with Merlin 22 engines: ME328, ME330, ME350, ME352, ME371-ME375, ME383-ME384, ME419-ME421, ME431-ME440, ME445-ME451, ME455-ME458, ME470, ME475-ME477, ME479-ME480, ME482, ME490, ME495
BIII’s (156) with Merlin 38 engines up to ME376, and Merlin 224 engines thereafter.

Metropolitan-Vickers, Trafford Park, Manchester Avro Type 683 – Lancaster B I. Serial Numbers ME554-ME596, ME613-ME650, ME663-ME704, ME717-ME759, ME773-ME814 and ME827-ME868. The fourth production batch of 250 aircraft ordered from Metropolitan-Vickers, as part of Contract # 2221 and Works Order # G.O.122700 and placed in 1942. All aircraft were completed as B Is, and seven aircraft converted to B III's in service. Merlin 22 engines were initially installed up to ME639, and on ME668 and ME669. Merlin 24 engines were initially installed from ME640 Deliveries commenced Nov 1943 and completed Jan 1944
