A.V. Roe produced the major components at Chadderton, with assembly and flight testing being undertaken at Avro Woodford. The Avro factory at Yeadon, Yorkshire, both built and flew the aircraft at that site.
Deliveries commenced Jun 1943 and completed Dec 1943
Merlin 28 engines initially installed in early production, Merlin 28 or 38 engines at mid production, and Merlin 38 engines only on late production.
2 aircraft converted to Lancaster B VI after leaving Manufacturers.
